THE HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA OFFICE
After an extensive review of the various options that were available to us, we decided to open an operational center in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, in January 2007. Patrick Donnelly was appointed the President of Meridian Fund Services (Canada) Limited and has built up a highly qualified and diverse team of professionals. In addition to supporting the valuation, accounting and investor relations needs of our other offices, our Halifax office is our major data processing center.
MANAGEMENT
Patrick Donnelly
Patrick is the president of Meridian Fund Services (Canada) Limited. Patrick joined Meridian Fund Services in September 2006 and was instrumental in establishing our formal presence in Halifax in January 2007.
From 1995, Patrick has held senior management positions for Citigroup Fund Services (Bermuda) Ltd. and HSBC/Bank of Bermuda Fund Services Group, where he was responsible for building effective teams of professionals who provided accounting, valuation and investor services to a fast growing portfolio of hedge fund clients.
Patrick qualified as a chartered accountant while working in the Halifax, Nova Scotia, office of Grant Thornton, one of Canada’s leading professional accounting firms. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, in 1990 with a BBA degree as an accounting major.
Sandy Baxter
Sandy joined Meridian Fund Services (Canada) Limited in January 2008 as the Senior Manager and Vice President in charge of Administration Services.
Sandy became a chartered accountant in 1997 while articling with Grant Thornton in Halifax. He worked for Ernst & Young in Bermuda for two years, auditing hedge and private equity funds. He then commenced an eight year tenure with The Bank of Bermuda/HSBC in 1999. During that time, he managed both hedge fund and private equity administration teams. As Senior Manager and Vice President, he managed a team of 21 staff members over the areas of accounting and investor servicing.
During his last two years with HSBC, Sandy was their Product Manager for Private Equity, supporting offices in Hong Kong, Luxembourg, San Francisco, Bermuda, Isle of Man and Guernsey. His duties included product and systems development, training and sales support. Sandy graduated from St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1993 as an Accounting major with a Bachelor of Commerce.
